The Big Photo Show 2013

The inaugural Big Photo Show took place on May 4-5, 2013 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California. The Photo Shooting Zones and Hands-On Zones caught my interest. I like the idea of being able to listen to an instructor doing live demos and then being able to practice what I learned from the demo.

Turned out that the Photo Shooting Zone became a mob of photogs taking pictures at models on a good sized stage and lighting I can only dream of. I thought that it was really helpful that the instructors were giving out their settings so we could follow along pretty easily. All the staff were great, friendly and patience. They really encourage everyone to share the shooting time and for us to work with the models directly at times. The Hands-On Zone was no bigger than a 1/4 of the Photo Shooting Zone stage. Too tight and not enough time with the models or objects.

This was mainly a place where local stores were able to sell their wares and for portrait shooting. There were some lectures but from what I could gleam it was pretty basic information.
