Product shoot setup

I was asked by a buddy to take some product shots of their cards. I wasn't getting the results we wanted from either using natural light or a single flash. I also didn't want to spend a fortune to build up my lighting setup yet. I started looking around for cheaper options. I couldn't find a desk lamp that would allow for bulbs that had a greater wattage than 60w. I eventually ran across these guys at the local hardware store. Thanks you Lowe's for the Bayco work lights, they were rated to handle bulbs up to 150w. I only had a couple 100w laying around at home so went into these lamps. They seem bright enough. I was able to shoot at f16 and iso 100 in a dark room. I can't handhold it but I wasn't expecting to.

Please support my friends at Artisans Lane

Thoughts
  • They are plenty bright
  • I should have gotten a longer power strip so I can power them on and off at the same time
  • The clamps were very handle in mounting the lamps
