Three generations of Canon greatness

Opps... so the math is 5d1 + 5d2 = 5d3 right?

Finally Canon made the 5d3 to be what I wished the 5d2 would be. An impressive sensor and an upgraded AF drive. I had hoped to just get the odd upgrades but I just couldn't wait out Canon and picked up the mk2 as well.

Thoughts
  • AF has been greatly improved
  • Low Noise at high ISO is intensely crazy good, I was plenty happy with the 5d2's performance but Canon has upped its game as expected
  • The focused indicator is now just a grey bleep instead of the a lit red box in the viewfinder, which can be hard to see at times
  • The built in editing ablity seems excessive but may come in handy down the road. It would be handy for users without programs like Photoshop
  • Sort of miss the old location of the on/off button
  • Not a fan of Canon's child lock ability of its shooting mode
  • I'm glad the 5d3 uses the same battery as the 5d2.
  • The ability to use the silent shooting mode outside of liveview is handy and really quiet
