I have a planned trip to Istanbul later this year for a friend's wedding. I'm both very excited to go and also realize my uncomfortableness with walking around places and eating on my own. I usually photowalk in groups. Since my buddy will be too busy with wedding preparations time around , I'll need to grow out of this, else risk sitting at the hotel room for a couple days till the wedding activities.
My plan? Force myself to go out on my own. I figure Downtown Disney should be a safe place to start and the staff at the restaurants are typically friendly. Driving here I sort of knew I wanted to try out slowing the shutter speed for some motion blur. This area has a lot of foot traffic so I expected to have a lot of chances to practice. Initially I set the camera on cement where I was sitting. It was really
hard to compose. I had the shutter set to 8 secs but people were walking
too fast and I just got a lot of ghost blurring. I then recalled a tip that I could brace myself while sitting down cross legged and elbows braced on my knees. I took this shot at 1/8 of a sec.
I think it also helped that I used my X-E2 tonight. for the most part no one noticed me and no one stopped to let me take my photo before crossing my field of view. Managed to just sit there for a while and snapped away.
Was pretty happy with my first time trying this technique out.
