The Best Camera Is The One You Have On You That Is Charged...

I've seen a similar shot for a long time. I had done my research looking for this spot the best I can. So finally on this recent trip to Hong Kong. I took two sets of photo gear. My big and heavy: 5d3, 24-70 and tripod for specifically this shot and my street set: x-e2, 35mm and 55mm. Because of the Hong Kong humidity, I ended up taking the Canon set out for just one day, this day. I had plans to be out the whole day and wasn't planning on stopping by where I was staying to swap sets so I decided to carry both sets with me. Since I've using my Fuji for most of the trip I just threw in the Canon set into my bag. The thing about Hong Kong is that its a walking city and things are packed and narrow. Thankfully my tripod didn't knock anything or any person over. Near the time of the shot as I made my way up to the location and was talking down the path for the shot. I started to walk and prepare my Canon for the shot. Flip the on switch and found out that the battery was drained.... I then go digging for my spare only to realized that I left my spare at where I was staying.... my Fuji didn't have bracket to attach itself to my tripod.... so all the effort of dragging my gear to Hong Kong and then up to this site just because a strengthening exercise. I ended up taking this shot handheld with the Fuji, its still good but I was always wonder how good it could have been.

Here are my thoughts about this experience

Pros:
  • it was the night of the super moon so maybe that allowed me to keep my ISO lower
  • it started to rain heavily as I was walking back
  • only had one mosquito bite
Cons:
  • was bitten by a mosquito
What I've learned:
  • always check your gear before you leave the house
  • its not needed but it might be a good idea to bring a flashlight
  • might be hard for me to keep track of two sets of gear
Will surely come back for this shot again.
