Move over Fuji its time to move onto Leica

The XE2 coupled with the OM 24mm combo was great and I enjoy using it but for some reason my hit ratio with the Zeiss 50mm was really poor and the focusing on either got harder when lighting was less than ideal and when things were further away, I think if I had stuck with the Fuji system I would need a new adapter. I really enjoyed shooting with the XE2, there's just something very satisfying in focusing manually. Things slow down for me and I just focus on the compsition and enjoying the moment. I love the Fuji profiles.

So why change? I swapped because of an oppurunity. A buddy of mine offered to sell me his M9 and I went for it.

What I like about the M9
  • I like the RAW out of camera, I do much less processing compared to Canon and Fuji files
  • Enjoy focusing with the optical viewfinder much more than the EVF
  • My Zeiss 50mm is native to Leica whereas I was adapting all my lenses I use on my Fuji
  • The simplcity, I'm not constanstly chimping or fidgeting with the settings
  • Easy to just get out and shoot camera, one lens and one body
What I don't like about the M9
  • The shutter sound
  • LCD is very dated, helps with the no chimping issue
  • Write to card speed is slow
  • Slippery slope into more Leica gear, like my friend's M10 after he's done with it
