Trip to Hong Kong and Taiwan

A couple updates since I've last posted. Maybe I can break some of these out into seperate post later but for now.
  • My Flickr photos have been completely deleted off the account and my subscription has been cancelled. What SmugMug will do with my deleted data, time will tell.
  • My 24" monitor died and was replaced with a 4k 27" monitor.
  • A friend gave me an AMD R9 270 video card to play with and help me hold out till I overhaul my entire rig.
  • I picked up an Leica M9 and a Peak Design Travel Backpack.

Now back to the trip...

On this trip I brought my Canon 5d3 with my 50mm f1.4, my Leica M9 with my Zeiss 50mm f2.0, tripod and the Travel Backpack. A couple quick thoughts
  • absolutely glad to have brought the tripod for the Peak shoot
  • the 5d3 setup was useful in Taiwan since it was it raining there
  • the Travel Backpack was able to carry our daily needs but it was a toll on the back and it was restrictive in crowds
  • wished I had a wider lens while trying to take photos of Taipei 101
  • don't believe that I accidently swung my backpack into anyone during the trip
From trying to be a tour guide, figuring out schedules, figuring how to get from place to place, and flexing my minute grasp of Cantonese. I forgot to make more time to take photos. There is so much to take in. Do I focus on the Christmas decorations or the regular charm of the city. On this trip I had orignally wanted to capture the Hong Kong I've come to know. My Hong Kong, the city has been changing quickly over the years and I wanted to capture it before more changes. But best laid plans... Taiwan has a stark contrast in feel and look when compared to Hong Kong. So much more green, history perserved and history in the archtecture. I definately should have stayed longer here and I have to come back soon.
